AUBURN, CA (MPG) - The ribbon was cut May 27 on Parkside at Sabre City, an affordable housing development in west Placer County designed to expand rental opportunities for working families.

Leaders from Housing Trust Placer, Placer County and community partners, along with the development team and other supporters, gathered to celebrate the completion of the project. Nearly all units have been rented, but  applications ae still being accepted from income-eligible residents. A family of four earning up to $104,000 annually would generally qualify for the program.

The development features 44 homes, comprising 22 three- and four-bedroom single story residences, each paired with a two-bedroom accessory dwelling unit, across 22 single-family lots.

“Today is about more than opening a new housing development. It’s about opening doors for families, workers and neighbors who are already part of the fabric of our community,” said Placer County District 1  Supervisor Bonnie Gore. “When we create housing opportunities like this, we strengthen the entire community.”

The homes were built using manufactured construction and funded through a loan and funds from Placer County and the California Department of Housing and Community Development. Project leaders said the homes were constructed for an average cost of approximately $450,000 each.
