Placer County to Host Walk of Honor Flag Raising Ceremony

AUBURN, CA (MPG) - Placer County, in partnership with the Granite Bay Rotary Club, will be hosting a commemorative ceremony at the Walk of Honor Memorial in Granite Bay on April 17 at 1 p.m.

The event will feature a flag-raising ceremony to celebrate newly installed enhancements, which include upgraded flag poles that proudly fly flags representing each branch of the U.S. Armed Forces and prisoners of war.

The program will feature comments from Placer County District 4 Supervisor Suzanne Jones, the Granite Bay Rotary Club and Gold Star mother Patty Schumacher, whose son, Marine Corps Lance Cpl. Victor Dew, was killed in action Oct. 12, 2010, while serving in Afghanistan. 

WHAT: Placer County will host a flag-raising ceremony at the Walk of Honor Memorial in Granite Bay. The media is welcome to attend.

WHO: Presenters will include Placer County District 4 Supervisor Suzanne Jones, Placer County Parks Administrator Erika Seward, Mike Calvert with the Granite Bay Rotary Club, and Gold Star mother Patty Schumacher. 

WHEN: Thursday, April 17, at 1 p.m.

WHERE: 6010 Douglas Blvd., Granite Bay (The ceremony will also be livestreamed on Facebook).
