“Schools are ready to open, teachers are eager to teach, and students are desperate to get back in the classroom"
SACRAMENTO, CA (MPG) – Assemblymember Frank Bigelow issued the following statement in response to upcoming negotiations for safely reopening schools.
“Rural California students have been learning virtually for almost a year. Parents have become educators, navigating zoom schedules and working from home. This is no way for students to learn or families to function.
“While the Governor and special interest groups continue to create obstacles for students to get back in the classroom, children are missing out on essential in-person activities. Physical activities, socializing with their peers, and extra-curricular activities are all on the back burner while the Governor continues to hold students hostage in their homes.
“Schools are ready to open, teachers are eager to teach, and students are desperate to get back in the classroom. I urge the Governor to allow schools to safely reopen, in accordance with CDC guidelines. It’s time the Governor stop using our children as pawns in his political games.”
Lifelong rancher Frank Bigelow proudly represents the 5th Assembly District, which encompasses Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Madera, Mariposa, Mono, Placer, and Tuolumne counties and includes Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park.
