“This year, we focused on creative ways to give to those in need throughout the local region,” said Dawn Clayton, general manager of Thunder Valley Casino Resort. “The holidays are a special time to spread joy while creating valuable memories; that’s why hosting various food drives, food donations, toy runs, and other programs are so important to the Thunder Valley family.”
This year, Thunder Valley Casino Resort aims to break their 2014 record of collecting 50,000 pounds of food for the Placer County Food Bank. Employees and guests have the opportunity to donate canned food items and raise funds at both Thunder Valley Casino Resort and Whitney Oaks Golf Course until Monday, December 21st.
On Tuesday, December 22nd, executives from Thunder Valley Casino Resort will join members of the United Auburn Indian Community Tribal Council in distributing 500 meals to Sacramento families at the North Sacramento Food Bank. This holiday season, the team will also be preparing bagged lunches to distribute to individuals through the Roseville Salvation Army and provide holiday hams to feed 300 people at the their annual Christmas meal. Thunder Valley Casino Resort is also proud to donate $1,000 worth of holiday hams to Loaves and Fishes and $500 worth of McDonald’s gift cards to their Mustard Seed School students.
“These donations allow people to have one less worry: not having to wonder where and when the next meal will come. It’s a great honor to serve as an ally to the community and we look forward to continuing these efforts,” said Clayton.
Thunder Valley Casino Resort also donated 50 turkeys to Roseville’s St. Clare Catholic Church in celebration of Thanksgiving and will donate another 50 for their Christmas food drive. In addition to the various food donations, Thunder Valley Casino Resort partnered with Renegade Classics for the 12th Annual Santa Claus Toy Run on Saturday, November 21st. Throughout the day motorcyclists throughout the region gathered to donate holiday toys for children in need.
Thunder Valley Casino resort is also participating in the Salvation Army Angel Tree program. Angel ornaments are decorated and carry a special wish list from local children, which is then hung on a tree at Thunder Valley. Thunder Valley Casino Resort employees then have the opportunity to select an ornament and provide that “angel” with their desired gift, oftentimes completing their entire wish list. The team is aiming to collect nearly 1,000 gifts for local families in need.
